It was easy to get our permits apparently. it took hours instead of days which meant we could leave Skardu a day earlier, making up for the lost time of the 2-day bus travel. Next morning we set off with several Toyota Landcruisers through the desert and forest terrain towards Askole. We even saw caves cut out in high cliffs. We had to checkin at several military posts, as this is a demilitarised zone. A flat tire set us back a bit, but finally we arrived in camp just behind Askole.
